Year in Review — End of 2025

As 2025 draws to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on a year that marked an important shift for Furfaro Architects — one defined by growth, responsibility, and the continued maturation of our practice.
This year wasn’t about doing more for the sake of it. It was about doing work that mattered — projects with greater scale, longer horizons, and broader public impact. From residential construction milestones to commercial approvals, education campuses, civic upgrades, and government housing delivery, 2025 reinforced our belief that good architecture plays a quiet but powerful role in shaping everyday life.
We’re grateful for the trust our clients, collaborators, and partners place in us and proud of the collective effort that brought these projects forward.

Built Work & Construction Milestones

A highlight of the year was the completion of several projects across Sydney, including the construction of a number of residential works.
Among them, our Alterations & Additions project in Lane Cove stands out as a particularly meaningful milestone. This project represented a true collaboration among our architectural and interior design teams, our client, and EDM Constructions, enabling us to deliver a cohesive, considered outcome from concept through to completion.
Seeing this project built reinforced the value of integrated thinking, careful detailing, and the importance of maintaining design intent all the way through to handover.

Planning Approvals & Project Milestones

Lasso Road, Gregory Hills — DA Approved

Our 7-storey mixed-use commercial development in Gregory Hills received development approval this year, becoming one of the tallest commercial buildings in the Camden LGA.
The project was driven by a simple belief: that South West Sydney deserves the same quality of workplace, hospitality, and lifestyle amenity typically found in inner-city locations. The proposal brings together office spaces, ground-level activation, and hospitality uses to create a place that supports local businesses, professionals, and the surrounding community.
Achieving this outcome required months of refinement and genuine collaboration with Camden Council, our client, and a highly engaged consultant team. The approval marks an important moment for the area — and for our practice — and reflects what’s possible when ambition is paired with trust and cooperation.

Al Sadiq College, Chester Hill — DA Approved

This year also saw development approval granted for the Al Sadiq College Chester Hill campus, delivered via City of Canterbury-Bankstown Council’s Local Planning Panel.
The project involves the adaptive reuse of a disused retirement village, transforming an underutilised site into a vibrant primary school campus. Our approach focused on retaining almost all of the existing built fabric, converting former aged-care buildings into learning spaces, administration areas, and child-focused outdoor environments.
The project is about giving a site a second life and supporting the long-term vision of a growing school community. This approval marks the beginning of a new chapter for Chester Hill and continues our long-standing collaboration with Al Sadiq College across multiple Western Sydney campuses.

Projects in Progress

Aldington Industrial Precinct, Mamre Road — DA in Preparation

Furfaro Architects was appointed in the latter half of the year to lead the design of a major new industrial precinct within the Mamre Road employment corridor in Kemps Creek.
The project spans three lots and includes:

* 21 medium-to-large scale warehouse units

* A five-storey commercial office building

We are currently progressing architectural design, consultant coordination, and DA documentation for submission to Penrith City Council. As one of Western Sydney’s most important employment precincts, it’s a privilege to contribute to a project that will help shape the area’s economic future.

Wetherill Park Library — Tender & Construction Stage

We were proud to work directly with Fairfield City Council on the interior upgrade of Wetherill Park Library, a project focused on improving how the facility serves its local community.
The upgraded design introduces new technology zones, study spaces, children’s areas, multi-purpose rooms, and improved accessibility — all delivered while keeping the library operational. This project represents one of our first civic commissions delivered directly for a Western Sydney council, and a meaningful milestone for our practice.
As a studio based in Western Sydney, contributing to the places we grew up around carries particular significance.

Government Housing Delivery

Wentworthville — Homes NSW

Construction is now underway on two dual-occupancy developments in Wentworthville, delivered in partnership with Berlina Projects for Homes NSW.
This marks our first completed project for a state government housing authority. The designs focus on compact, high-quality homes that balance efficiency, amenity, and comfort — modest in scale, but meaningful in impact.
We’re grateful to Berlina Projects and Homes NSW for the opportunity to contribute to government-led housing delivery and look forward to continuing this work in the future.

Practice Milestones

In 2025, Furfaro Architects was approved under the NSW Government Architect’s Strategy and Design Prequalification Scheme (SCM0801), with eligibility to deliver architectural services across both general and education sectors, up to $9 million in consultancy fees.

This milestone reflects the growth and maturity of our practice and reinforces our ability to deliver larger, more complex projects with the rigour and accountability required in the public sector.

A Note of Thanks

This year would not have been possible without the dedication of our team. I’d like to thank every member of the Furfaro Architects studio for their professionalism, care, and commitment throughout 2025. The quality of our work is a direct reflection of the people behind it.
To our clients, collaborators, consultants, and council partners — thank you for trusting us and working alongside us.
