Southwest Sydney Gears Up for Exciting New Developments: Oxley Ridge Tavern and Oran Park Leisure Centre

Oxley Ridge Tavern: A Comprehensive New Pub Experience Awaits Southwest Sydney

This week, plans for a new pub development in southwest Sydney have been unveiled. Situated on Brunsdon Road in Cobbitty, the Oxley Ridge Tavern is currently awaiting DA approval. The proposed 3-storey establishment is designed to feature a lower ground floor bottle shop and a ground floor pub. The ground floor will house both indoor and outdoor dining areas, a sports and gaming lounge, a children's play area, a kitchen, an office, a bar, and amenities. Additionally, a mezzanine-level bar and kitchen with indoor and outdoor dining areas have been proposed.

If approved, the $22 million development aims to accommodate the rapidly growing southwest Sydney region, which boasts an annual growth rate of 5.7%. Given its location within a neighbourhood-centred zone and the nearest pub, Gregory Hills Hotel, being over 6km away, the site presents a logical choice for such a development. Furthermore, projections indicate that up to six hotels or taverns may be planned by 2041 to support the ongoing expansion and development of the area.

The Oxley Ridge Tavern proposal promises to be a valuable addition to the burgeoning southwest Sydney region, providing a space for the local community to engage in social gatherings and enjoy quality time with family and friends. This project signifies an exciting advancement in the growth and development of the region, and we eagerly anticipate the future developments that lie ahead.

Work begins on Oran Park Leisure Centre

Construction has officially begun on the recently approved Oran Park Leisure Centre. The precinct will be a multi-purpose community facility designed by Warren and Mahoney Architects, including a 50-metre indoor swimming pool, leisure and learn-to-swim pool, spa and sauna, and indoor basketball courts, gymnasium, cafe and car parking all within the heart of Camden.

Expected to be complete in late 2024, The Oran Park Leisure Centre is an exciting addition to the Oran Park civic precinct. It will be a place for social gatherings and provides a connection to the existing library and council administration building.

Mayor Therese Fedeli has also expressed her excitement for the development, saying, “Not only is it great to have these facilities right here in our own backyard for our residents to enjoy, but it also gives us the opportunity to host state, national and international level competitions which also benefits our local small businesses”.

The start of construction is an exciting step forward in the ongoing growth and development of Western Sydney, and we look forward to seeing what’s next.
