Envisioning Bradfield: Pioneering Sustainable Urbanism in Western Sydney's Aerotropolis

A draft master plan for the new Bradfield City Centre in Western Sydney’s Aerotropolis has been revealed. In support of one of the fastest growing cities in Australia, the newest city is set to embed on design excellence with the inclusion of world class technology, buildings, and landscape to help achieve the states commitments to net zero cities and climates resilience.

Released in early February, the 114-hectare site will provide space for more than 80 buildings up to 15 storeys high and include a 2.2km Green Loop, 36 hectares of open space, waterways, and playgrounds, and up to 40 percent of tree canopy cover for a green cool city.

Bradfield City Centre will be designed to support a circular economy, include up to 80 percent green roof coverage or bio systems to support urban heat, and incorporate climate-resilient design features to maximise energy efficiency.

The proposal will unlock new economic opportunities and create more than 20,000 new job opportunities and an additional 10,000 new homes. Also centred around character and culture, the draft master plan will include more than 30% of public open space, dedicated to major event and cultural spaces to create a place to live, work, gather, play, and stay.

The release of this master plan is an exciting step forward in the development and growth of the Western Sydney Aerotropolis, a vision to expand and create a thriving precinct in one of Australia's fastest-growing cities.

In conjunction with the draft master plan, Furfaro Architects are pleased to announce the design concept of a 15-storey development that aligns closely with the key features and character of the new Bradfield City Centre.

Our team is working closely with our client to realize an innovative mixed-use precinct. The development will feature:
